“One of my favourite sequences from ‘Heima’; it just seems to encapsulate everything that is so wonderful about the film: the Icelandic landscape, and the relative informality of many of the ‘homecoming’ gigs that the band played around Iceland. The magical quality of the occasion is also captured so well on the expressions of the audience (the little girl’s look of wonder for example); and of course the music itself, featuring a local marching band is sublime. One of the best ‘rockumentaries’ ever committed to film.”
